kory I believe you are correct. But wouldn't that negate Han Solo's usage of said 'parsec' when he refers to his feat of making the kessel run in less than 12 parsecs?
although it could easily be interpreted this way, I believe Solo was in fact referring to his shortcut through the Maw black hole cluster. Therefore making the 18-parsec kessel run in a mere 12 parsecs. A glorious achievement for any smuggler, especially in an outdated corellian ship like the falcon. (might I add, it was this same 12 parsec trip that won Solo the falcon from lando in the first place).
i like your painting, you should teach me how to draw.

Yes, I would concur with your deductions. It is a fact that a parsec is a measurement of distance, but there is simply now way that our lord and master, George Lucas, praise be his name, could ever make such a mistake. Therefore, your logical explanation is in fact the only possible solution to the paradox.

Isn't a parsec a unit of distance?

I was really hoping a conversation like that would emerge from my comment! Ask and ye shall receive. Praise Lucas!
