Buddha and Shiva

Another drawing from work. This is part of a storyboard for a course. Why so complex you ask? I want to be able to print them in nonphoto blue and trace them for a specific look. I have a fun job where I get to draw aliens and religious icons all day.

The reference is an 80 foot tall statue in Bodhgaya, India. If you think the original Buddha was fat, do a Google search. He was described as being extremely emaciated (self inflicted as an ascetist) to extremely fit and having a body like unto Michael Phelps. The "fat Buddha" came about when Buddhism gained popularity in China. Some think he was a Buddhist monk, and others think that having great girth symbolized Wealth and Prosperity and was therefore applied to their main religious iconography.

This is a drawing of Shiva, a Hindu god. He has four arms, which is cool. I spent a bit less time on him than the Buddha, but I thought it was kinda fun so I'm throwing it up there.

Chienye of Polex 9

This new alien is for work, but also for! I was invited to contribute to a site that is similar to Illustration Friday in that artists turn in one illustration a week, only it's everything creature related. Who doesn't love drawing creatures?

Since we're doing alien designs at work, I thought I'd finish one up a bit more and turn it in for this coming Monday.

Adventures.... IN SPACE!!!

These homeboys are a couple sketches for a concept project I did a while back, which you may remember. If you don't, go take a look. These is more what Amus was originally going to look like before the whole thing got a retooling.

Hover Slug

This fellow is a slug like creature from some planet or other. His species decided they moved a bit too slowly and now relies on the use of hover "chairs".

This jovial fellow is named Grobble. I did it at work with photoshop, like all of my posts lately.I like to think he hobbles around saying, "Behold, I am Grobble!!!"

Mean Animals

These are mean for a reason, I just can't tell you why. It's a secret.
